You might have heard so much about Dubai but still not exactly know what to expect from your Dubai tour. It was the case with me last year when I made my first visit to this Arabic city. After spending a good time at the city, I came back with a good understanding of how Dubai works and how to plan the trip to get the best of our Dubai vacation packages.
Here are the things to know before flying for Dubai. I wish I knew these things before my first trip.
WHAT TO WEAR WHEN IN DUBAI?
One of the most imperative things that we all should know before packing for Dubai is what to wear when on the desert land. Since Dubai is a Muslim country, you must pack a pair of some modest dress that can allow you to go in certain areas. Men and women are expected to dress modestly when in public areas like malls, cafes, the airport, public transport and so on. Whilst nobody is going to call the fashion police to catch you if you are showing too much of your skin, you need to be respectful to the local culture and dress accordingly. However, there is no dress code for basking at the beach and dancing in the disk. You can be totally you while heading to such fun places.
HOW MUCH SHOULD YOU TIP IN DUBAI?
Tipping is a custom in Dubai but not indispensable. Take in to account the quality of service provided and then tip accordingly. Don’t feel inclined to tip if you experienced something unpleasing. Here is a rough guide to tipping in Dubai –
- Waiter/waitress – 10 to 15% of the total bill, if service has been good.
- Food delivery man – Round up to nearest note or AED 5 to 10.
- Taxi driver – Round up to the nearest note if the driving was acceptable.
- Bellboy – AED 5 to 10.
- Valet-parking assistant – AED 5 to 10.
- Hairdresser – 10%
- Supermarket bag-packer: A couple of coins, up to AED 5.
NIGHTLIFE IN DUBAI –
Dubai has a fantastic nightlife scene. Life actually begins here in the evening here. Since Dubai is hot during the day, night is the best to make fun. Dubai boasts an overwhelming choice of stylish bars and clubs. You can find a good range of clubs within the hotels but there is no main ‘strip’ or nightlife hub. If you are thinking of a night out, you need to know where you should go. The main party districts are places with high concentration of hotels, like Al Barsha, the Jumeirah and the Deira and Bur Dubai districts in the older part of the city. The bars in Dubai are the hub to hang out and have amazing options for a relaxed night.
Be informed about this Arabic city and plan your Dubai vacation packages accordingly to make good memories.
