Dubai is a city of extravagance and opulence. It is fast becoming one of the world’s biggest financial centres and is a stunning place to visit. Flanked by the Persian Gulf, miles of sand dunes and the imposing Hajar mountain range, Dubai is the perfect place for a city break, with both water and land adventures.
There are many new experiences to be gained from visiting Dubai, and specifically worth a mention are the desert safari adventures, which are a unique way to explore the deserts surrounding Dubai. Once started, you’ll be thankful for the air-conditioned four-wheel drive vehicle that most of the safaris take place in; at times the heat can be overwhelming.
Alternatively, you may wish to try your hand at dune-driving, which is an incredibly thrilling activity where you drive over the sand dunes; the aim of which being to try to keep the car moving on the ever-shifting surface.
Sand-skiing is another high-speed activity that is not for the faint-hearted. It involves donning something akin to a snowboard and hurling yourself down the side of one of the massive dunes outside Dubai. If you are lucky, you may even catch some locals getting up speed in a traditional camel race across the desert tracks.
If sea, rather than sand, appeals more, Dubai has all sorts to offer. Water sports are considered to be one of the major reasons why people visit Dubai and the selection is vast. You can do anything from snorkelling and scuba diving to jet-skiing and sailing. There are plenty of water sports to watch as well, with some key sailing regattas and water sports competitions being held in Dubai each year.
Another great way to experience Dubai’s city from the water is on a Dhow Cruise. A dhow is a type of traditional Arabic boat, which you can board to tour Dubai’s Creek – the strip of water that divides the city’s financial area. The skyline and the beaches look incredible from this view and it is perhaps a lot less work than windsurfing!
If exploring Dubai by water is not of interest then you can experience some of Dubai’s extravagance for yourself by taking a helicopter tour to explore the city and the picturesque Hajar Mountains from the air.
If during your visit, the weather’s not at its best, then a fun activity in such conditions is to try your hand at go-karting. Dubai houses the Middle East’s first indoor go-karting centre; spread over forty thousand square feet, which is thankful, air-conditioned. However, there are lots of other activities on at the centre to have an attempt at, should getting behind the wheel not be your cup of tea.
There is a lot more to know about Dubai, this is just a bit of it! Visit in person and feel the excitement yourself; there is no other place like Dubai, Racism free, cheaper beyond imagination with a lot of opportunities to be explored! Enjoy.
